Shri Mahaprabhuji arrived in the trading town of Surat having travelled through Dang Forest to the south-east.
Here He commanded Damodardas Harsaniji, “Damla, there are so many grumpy lives in Gujarat. We have to give them salvation, but it is not possible to give salvation to so many lives in this one pilgrimage. So we will come here again during our further pilgrimages.”
Shri Mahaprabhuji stayed near Ashwinikumar Ghat on the banks of river Tapi. It is said that river Tapi is a sister of river Shri Yamuna.
Shri Mahaprabhuji recited the Shri Bhagavat Purana here. Whilst He was reciting this, a 16 years old beautiful girl, adorned with beautiful ornaments, came to Him after having taken a bath in river Tapi. She stood by Shri Mahaprabhuji’s left side with a fan and cooled him during the entire Purana. As Shri Mahaprabhuji finished for the day, the girl suddenly disappeared!
Shri Krushnadas Meghan searched for this girl, but he couldn’t find her. Puzzled by this, he asked Shri Mahaprabhuji, “Krupanath, this girl seems an extraordinary human. Please tell me about her.” Shri Mahaprabhuji smiled and replied, “She was Shri Tapiji. She is a daughter of the sun and so she is Shri Yamunaji’s sister. It was her desire to listen to Shri Bhagavat Purana, so took a form of a lady to come here daily.”
