Lohgadh

This Baithakji closed to the public (around 2017 we think) for darshan as it has been taken into private ownership.

Shri Mahaprabhuji came to Lohagadh (today called Panaji) from Vidyanagar and stayed under the Chhokar tree near a large rock on which there was an impression of an elephant’s foot. There was a dense forest surrounding this area and thousands of grumpy animals who were ignorant by nature were living there. He said to Shri Damodardas Harsaniji “This place is very pleasant, so, we will do Shri Bhagavat Purana here and will give salvation to the grumpy souls.”

Shri Krushanadas Meghan, who was also with Shri Mahaprabhuji said “Maharaj, there isn’t any water in a reservoir or lake here.” Shri Mahaprabhuji replied, “There are many waterfalls in the mountains. There is also a lake not far from here. Near this lake, there is a big rock with the impression of an elephant’s foot and besides this there is another rock. Under this rock, there is a cave, in which there are three Kunds:

    • Apsara Kund, where the Apsaras (celestial ladies) comes daily for a bath.
    • Gandharva Kund, where Gandharva comes daily for a bath
    • Devata Kund, where all the Devas including Devraj Indra come for a bath on every Poonam”.

All the Sevakas became so happy knowing the supernatural power of this location and how Shri Mahaprabhuji explained it.

For the next seven days, Shri Mahaprabhuji read the Shri Bhagavat Purana This gave salvation to the thousands of grumpy souls by spreading his Charnarvind Raj.

From here Shri Mahaprabhuji proceeded to Pandharpur.
