The original name of Bharuch was Bhrugu Kacchh and is situated on the banks of river Narmada, one of the seven holy rivers of India; the other six being Ganga, Yamuna, Godavari, Saraswati, Sindhu, and Kaveri.
Shri Mahaprabhuji came with his sevakas and stayed under the Chhokar tree on the banks of river Narmada. During His stay, a young woman, adorned from head to toe with godly jewels, came and bowed at Shri Mahaprabhuji's feet and reqested “Maharaj, You wander about sanctifying holy places and rivers by your mere touch for the unliftment of divine souls. Please bless this Narmada river by bathing in her waters.” Shri Mahaprabhuji happily accepted this request and bathed in the river every day during His stay.
Shri Damodardas Harsaniji, asked, “Krupanath, who was this girl?” Shri Mahaprabhuji replied, “She was the goddess Shri Narmadaji.”
Shri Mahaprabhuji recited the Shri Bhagavat Purana here for the upliftment of the divine souls of the town.
During His stay in Bharuch, many Mayavadi Pandits came to debate with Him on the Shastras. But, Shri Mahaprabhuji defeated them within an hour and proved to them that their theory of an illusionary world is not correct. Instead, He emphasised that devotion and love to Shri Krishna is the inner importance of the Vedas.
In Bharuch Shri Mahaprabhuji and Shri Gusaiji both are in this Baithakji.
From Bharuch, Shri Mahaprabhuji move on to Godhara.
