Shri Mahaprabhuji’s Sevak Rana Vyasji was from Godhara and the Baithakji is in his house.
Rana Vyas was a great Vedic scholarly man. He won many debates on Shashtrath in different regions over the years which led him to have an ego on his scholarship. He thought that, his victory is incomplete without defeating the Kashi Pandits. Hence, he went to Kashi and participated in Shastrarth debates against the Kashi Pandits. But he was badly defeated. This made him very depressed and he thought “I will commit suicide in the rive Gangaji.” Thinking of this act, he went to the banks of river Gangaji. At the same time, Shri Mahaprabhuji and Krishanadas Meghan were there for the Sandhya Vandana (an evening prayer). Krushnadas Meghan asked Shri Mahaprabhuji, “Maharaj, if anyone commits suicide, will they get salvation?” Shri Mahaprabhuji replied, “Even Shri Gangaji cannot give salvation to the life who commits suicide. That life has to take seven births and in all seven births, they would gain no fruits here or elsewhere.”
Rana Vyas overheard this conversation. He thought to himself that Shri Mahaprabhuji was God incarnation himself and was meant to save him. He approached Shri Mahaprabhuji and requested, “Krupanath, You are the God, You saved me from committing suicide. So, please allow me to be Your Sevak.” Rana Vyas told his whole story to Shri Mahaprabhuji. Shri Mahaprabhuji said, “You are totally unwise. If you live, you can regain your victory. So, go and take a bath in river Gangaji.” Shri Mahaprabhuji, after initiating him, taught him the doctrine of “Chatushloki” and took him under his shelter.
In His book “Chatushloki”, Shri Mahaprabhuji has explained the four Purusharthas (object of human pursuit) of Pushtimargiya Vaishnava. These are:
Shri Mahaprabhuji commanded Rana Vyas “Tomorrow go again in the Vidwat Sabha for debate, you will definitely win.”
The next day, Rana Vyas won in the debates of Shastras against many Kashi Pandits. He said to Shri Mahaprabhuji, “Krupanath, due to your grace, I won the debate. Now please allow me to do Seva of a Bhagwad Swarup.” Shri Mahaprabhuji gave him the Bala Krishna Lalji Swarup and started doing his Seva faithfully.
Rana Vyas requested Shri Mahaprabhuji’s to come to his house in Godhara. This He did and narrated Shri Subodhiniji for three days and nights.
There are also Baithakji’s of Shri Gusaiji and Shri Gokulnathji here. Many Sevakas of Shri Mahaprabhuji and Shri Gusaiji came from Godhara.
