Padmanabhaji

There is no actual building for this Baithakji. So whilst Shri Mahaprabhuji was here and the narration of His visit is correct as below, there isn’t a physical place that the local Vaishavas have designated as a Baithakji. This is therefore classed as a "Gupt" Baithakji.

Padmanabhaji Kshetra is now called Thiruvananthapuram and is the capital of Kerala.

Shri Mahaprabhuji came here for the darshan of Shri Padmanabhaji, who is laying on Lord Shri Sheshnaagji, in the Padmanabhaswamy Temple. The temple is built in an intricate fusion of the indigenous Kerala style and the Tamil style of architecture associated with the temples located in the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu, featuring high walls, and a 16th-century Gopuram.

The darshan of Shri Padmanabhaji can only be made from three doors, such is the size of the deity. From the first door, you can do the darshan of his face. From the second door, you can do darshan of his navel and his abdomen area and from the last door you can do darshan of his legs.

In line with the Temple Entry Proclamation, only those who profess the Hindu faith are permitted entry to the temple and devotees have to strictly follow the dress code of wearing only a dhoti - no other cloths.

Shri Mahaprabhuji stayed under the Chhokar tree in a pleasant place near a lake. From here He explained the greatness of Shri Padmanabhaji to Shri Damodardas Harsaniji by saying “Shri Padmanabhaji is the Lord Adinarayana. Shri Brahmaji was revealed from his navel, so he is known as Shri Padmanabhaji. He is lying on the Sheshnaagji, hence he is also known as Podhanath”.

Shri Padmanabhaji himself came to do the darshan of Shri Mahaprabhuji who welcomed him and paid respect by saying “Shri Padmanabhay Namah”. Shri Mahaprabhuji said, “Why did you trouble yourself to come here? I was coming for your darshan at your temple”. Shri Padmanabhaji replied, “You have also troubled yourself to come here in south India. So, it wouldn’t be fair if I don’t come for your darshan”.

Next morning, Shri Mahaprabhuji went to the temple after completing his daily routine. He offered seva and shrungar to Shri Padmanabhaji and gave 10 Rupees to the Anandram Mukhiya and commanded him to bring samagri. Then, he offered bhog of that samagri to Shri Padmanabhaji. Shri Padmanabhaji insisted that both should enjoy the bhog together. When the Anandram Mukhiya witnessed this, he had a vision of the eternal realm of Vrindavan and later requested to become Shri Mahaprabhuji’s disciple.

Shri Mahaprabhuji stayed at the Padmanabhji Kshetra and organized Shreemad Bhagwat Parayan. Shri Padmanabhaji come daily to listen the katha.

Shri Mahaprabhuji went to the Janardan Kshetra from here to carry on His south India pilgrimage.
