- The Brahma Sambandh of Ashtachapp poet Shri Paramananddasji and many Vaishnavs from the 84 Vaishnav stories of the disciples of Shri Mahaprabhuji and 252 Vaishnav stories of the disciples of Shri Gusainji
- Krishnadevaraya of Vijaynagar, came here seeking Shri Mahaprabhuji’s darshan and once again performed His Kanakabhishekam.
No photography or video of the main darshan permitted in this baithakji by order of Goswami Shri Shyam Manoharji Maharaj (Kashi), the Shri Vallabhkul in charge.
At a very young age, Shri Mahaprabhuji visited Shri Vitthalnathji's temple in Pandarpur. It was here that Shri Vitthalnathji told Him to follow gruhastashram so that He could be born as His son. Following the instructions given, Shri Mahaprabhuji married and decided to spend the rest of His life in the pleasant solitary place of Adel, a little away from Allahabad and after having completed all three of His pilgrimages.
It was here that His second son was born. He recognised him as the Lord's manifestation and named him Shri Vitthalnathji who later became known as Shri Gusainji.
Shri Mahaprabhuji stayed here with his family in a simple accommodation, at the confluence of the rivers Shri Gangaji and Shri Yamunaji. Some of His disciples also settled here with Him. He spent most of the time in the seva of Shri Navnit Priyaji. One day, Shri Mahaprabhuji came to knew that His mother, Shri Ilammagaruji, wished to also do Seva. However, according to the protocols of Pustimarg, without Brahma Sambandh, you can’t do Seva. Furthermore, according to scriptures, the son has no right to give Brahma Sambandh to his mother. This was the dilemma Shri Mahaprabhuji was in.
One day, Shri Mahaprabhuji was in deep religious discussion with some Pandits. It was time for Utthapan but He could not leave the discussion incomplete. At that time, Shri Navnit Priyaji commanded Shri Mahaprabhuji's mother that “You take a bath and then come for the Seva”. So, Shri Ilammagaruji requested Shri Navnit Priyaji that “Krupanath, I don't have permission to take bath for Seva by Shri Mahaprabhuji. He will reprimand me if He will come to know”. Shri Navnit Priyaji reassured her that, “This is my command. Shri Mahaprabhuji will not reprimand you. Take a bath and come soon”. Then Shri Ilammagaruji took bath and went to the temple.
Shri Navnit Priyaji took his second form and gave Tulsi in the hands of Shri Ilammagaruji and told her to chant a Brahma Sambandh Mantra. He took Tulsi and dedicated it to the charanarvind of his second form. At that time, Shri Navnit Priyaji demanded a bhet from the mother. Shri Ilammagaruji gifted a pearl necklace which she wore. Then Shri Navnit Priyaji commanded Shri Ilammagaruji that “Offer me a Bhog of Utthapan”.
She went to take the Bhog Samagri for Utthapan and at the same time Shri Mahaprabhuji also took a bath and came to the Seva. Seeing His mother in the Seva, Shri Mahaprabhuji asked “What did you do this for?” Shri Navnit Priyaji then commanded him, “I gave her a Brahma Sambandh”. Shri Navnit Priyaji explained to Shri Mahaprabhuji about how he gave her Brahma Sambandh. It was then Shri Mahaprabhuji became pleased and requested to His mother, “You join me in Seva happily”. Since then His mother started doing Seva of Shri Navnit Priyaji.
Shri Mahaprabhuji has nicely described his routine of Adel in the kirtan “Pragat Bhaye Marag Reet Dikhayi”.
Staying in Adel, Shri Mahaprabhuji performed Shrimad Bhagwat Parayan many times. His eldest son, Shri Gopinathji was born in Adel in 1510 (Vikram Samvat 1567). Shri Gopinathji had a love for Shrimad Bhagwat from early childhood, so much so that he had taken the pledge to have a meal only after completing the Shrimad Bhagawat Parayan. As a result, many times, he could not take meal for many days.
Shri Mahaprabhuji, seeing this, graced him and wrote the book “Shri Purushottam Sahastra”, which is a summary of Shrimad Bhagwatji. In this there is a depiction of the thousand names of the Lord. Shri Mahaprabhuji commanded Shri Gopinathji that, “You recite this stotra every day. So, you will get the benefit of Shrimad Bhagwat Parayan”. In this way, Shri Mahaprabhuji yet again showed grace for those divine beings who had taken His shelter.
Indeed most doctrines from Sodash Granth as well as Shri Sarvottamji were composed here by Shri Mahaprabhuji & Shri Gusainji.
In the many years that Shri Mahaprabhuji resided in Adel, numerous historical events of significance in Pustimarg occurred. For example:
