The town of Badrinath is famous for the temple of Lord Shri Badrinathji.
Shri Mahaprabhuji arrived in Badrinath, from Haridwar via Rishikesh, on the day of Vaman Dwadashi and stayed at near the Tapat Kund and Badrik Ashram near the temple. As this was such an important day, He commanded Krishndas Meghan, His disciple, that “Today is a day of fasting, so find some fruits for food as we cannot eat any grains”.
At the same time, Lord Shri Badrinathji thought that “Today, I am blessed that Shri Mahaprabhuji is a guest in my Ashram. However, I don’t like Him fasting and would prefer Him to have a full meal”. Krishndas Meghan made his way to the forest in search of fruits. There, Lord Shri Badrinathji gave him darshan in the form of Brahmin and asked “Where are you going”? In reply, Krishndas said “Maharaj, I am going to find some fruits”. The Brahmin said “Very good. It’s the duty of the Sevak to give happiness to the Lord, but now as there is snowfall, you will not get any fruit”. Krishndas took the advice of the Brahmin and returned to Badrik Ashram.
Krishndas Meghan explained to Shri Mahaprabhuji “Krupanath, there are no fruits anywhere because of the snow”. At the same time, Lord Shri Badrinathji came in front of Shri Mahaprabhuji and commanded Him “I also tried to find fruits for you, but could not find any. So My command is that, you make a meal and have it”.
Shri Mahaprabhuji requested to Lord Shri Badrinathji “Maharaj, today is the Vaman Dwadashi, so how can I have a meal”? Lord Shri Badrinathji commanded “According to Hindu theology, a meal (Parna) can be eaten after the festival ends”. Then Shri Mahaprabhuji thought that, because of Lord Shri Badrinathji’s command, He will offer a bhog to Shri Thakroji after the birth of Shri Vamanji and then will take a meal. Shri Mahaprabhuji, having taken a meal (now classed as mahaprasad) obeyed Lord Shri Badrinathji’s wish. All the deciples also took mahaprasad.
Shri Mahaprabhuji stayed at Badrik Ashram and performed Shrimad Bhagvad Saptah. Lord Shri Badrinathji commanded Shri Mahaprabhuji that “Accept all the divine creatures who live here”. Shri Mahaprabhuji smiled and said softly “I will do as you wish”. Then He gave salvage to the many creatures through the dust of his Charnarvind (feet).
After taking permission of Lord Shri Badrinathji, Shri Mahaprabhuji came left for Kedarnath.
